What is Tahini?

Tahini is made from ground sesame seeds. Sesame seeds contain more phytosterols than all other nuts and seeds. These are important for their cholesterol-lowering and cancer-blocking effects. There are many other nutrients in sesame seeds, but it is difficult for the body to absorb them due to their hard outer layer, or hull. Consuming sesame seeds in the paste form of tahini allows the body to absorb the nutrients they provide more efficiently.

What is Our Green Tahini?

Our Green Tahini is based on ground sesame seeds, and we add other 100% natural ingredients to make it green, cool and creamy. With the right amounts of ground sesame seeds, fresh green herbs, and other natural ingredients, Green Tahini is a ready-to-serve, gluten-free, vegan spread, dip, salad dressing, condiment, and sauce.

People always ask, “what makes it so green?”

Besides the ground sesame seeds, cilantro and parsley are the two other main ingredients in most of our Green Tahini flavors, and the reason for its natural green color. We do have a parsley-only flavor called Simply Parsley, which does not contain cilantro.

Cilantro is an herb that contains a good source of antioxidants, and helps cut down on sodium intake. Some studies suggest that increasing consumption of plant foods like cilantro may decrease the risk of obesity, overall mortality, diabetes, and heart disease while promoting healthy skin and hair, increased energy, and overall lower weight.

Parsley is low in calories and rich in important nutrients, such as vitamins A, K and C. In fact, just two tablespoons (8 grams) of parsley deliver more vitamin K than you need in one day. Vitamin C improves heart health, is vital to your immune system, and acts as a powerful antioxidant, protecting your cells from damage caused by unstable molecules. Parsley is also a good source of magnesium, potassium, folate, iron and calcium.

Cilantro & Parsley

Our Cilantro & Parsley flavor was our first flavor ever and what we consider our "original" tahini. This flavor includes the fresh green herbs, cilantro and parsley, along with other 100% natural ingredients. It has just the right amount of savory appeal and cool, green texture to go with every type of food!

Simply Parsley

Our Simply Parsley flavor is just that - besides the ground sesame seeds, fresh parsley is the other main ingredient. It does not contain cilantro. If you are not keen on cilantro, try our Simply Parsley flavor. We got you! It is cool, green, and creamy (without any cream!), and goes with everything!

Our Garlic & Herb flavor includes cilantro, parsley and extra garlic for a rich, hearty taste. This flavor also pairs well with every type of food, but especially on grilled eggplant, roasted cauliflower, any salad, chicken, fish or meatballs!

The spiciness is surprising in this one, as it comes out after you experience the cool, creamy texture of our tahini. How do we eat Green Tahini?

On top of all of its nutritional benefits, Green Tahini is simply delicious and pairs well with so many foods.

You can use it as a spread, dip, condiment, sauce, salad dressing, or just take it straight up! A vegan delight, it is also amazing on all types of meat and fish dishes. Use it as a chicken or salmon marinade, or on top of meatballs. It is the perfect healthy replacement for ketchup or mayonnaise on all types of sandwiches, hot or cold. Pour it over rice, use it as a veggie or cracker dip, put it on any type of salad or just spoon it with no garnishes!
